Dosage: What is the Correct Resveratrol Dose?
Resveratrol is
an anti-aging, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory antioxidant. In addition,
it has been shown to lower cholesterol, and assists cells to break down
fats and function more efficiently. It became a household word
primarily when Dr. Oz spoke about its effects on the Oprah Winfrey Show
in 2009, and recommended its use. It has been in studied for its
healing and preventative properties, however, since 2006. At that time,
a study was done that showed that it kept overfed mice from gaining
weight and seemed to slow their aging. Now that the supplement is in
the public eye at a larger scale, many people are wondering what the
correct resveratrol dosage should be.
This article will answer that question and make some recommendations.
Resveratrol Dosage: What You Need to Know
Resveratrol is
usually found in red wine and peanuts. These natural foods contain the
following amounts of resveratrol: red wine contains about 640 mcg
(micrograms) while a handful of peanuts contains about 73 mcg. In
essence, a bottle of red wine would contain approximately 2 to 14 mg
(milligrams) of resveratrol. Health professionals recommend at least a
few milligrams if the supplement is being taken for preventative
measures, up to 100 mg to 700 mg per serving if the supplement is being
taken as a therapeutic dose. Resveratrol dosage is entirely dependent
on the intent of the person using this supplement and possible
recommendations for dosage from their own doctors or physicians for
their particular fitness/lifestyle goals.
Resveratrol Dosage: A Readily Absorbable Supplement
No matter what the resveratrol dosage may be, the supplement is readily absorbable into the bloodstream, typically
taking from 20 to 30 minutes to enter peak blood levels and then quick absorption by the liver to flush "out" of the system, so it should
be noted that taking it at different periods through the day would make more sense than taking a large dose all at once. A supplement that
has great scientific research and results that has been impressively proven to manage a host of disease and overweight. We expect to hear
